INSTINCTIVE DRIVES OVERVIEW AND KEY FACTS

We all have a natural way of doing things that works best for us. When able to do things ‘our way,’ we achieve better results, reach our goals faster, and minimize our stress and frustration. As a result, we find our relationships more rewarding, productive, and fun - and we get to experience greater and more consistent levels of energy, motivation, confidence, and health and well-being.

The Instinctive Drives® (I.D.) assessment uncovers your natural and best way of doing things, providing insights into the deeper-level needs, drives, and motivations that influence your behaviors. By giving people targeted, practical strategies, an I.D. result provides a personal success code that helps people get more of the results they want - personally and professionally.

Leaders, teams, and organizations use the I.D. System™ to achieve better results faster. As well as supporting individuals to fulfill their potential, I.D. fast-tracks people’s understanding of each other. This helps to build the trust that enables the open, honest but respectful conversations critical to effective and efficient collaboration. Additional insights and strategies relating to a team’s I.D. Culture, pinpoint the assets a team can leverage and roadblocks to watch out for, helping teams and organizations to accelerate their progress towards goals and growth targets.

You can find out more about the Instinctive Drives Assessment, including how to read an I.D. Result and the benefits of using the I.D. System for individuals, teams and organizations, through our help page or blog.

There are 4 Instinctive Drives:

- The Instinct to Verify

- The Instinct to Authenticate

- The Instinct to Complete

- The Instinct to Improve

The numbers in a person’s 4-digit I.D. Result reflect whether they are:

- Driven to USE an Instinct (a 6, 7. 8, or 9)

- Are ‘in neutral’ in an Instinct (5)

- Driven to AVOID an Instinct (4, 3, 2, 1)

Use, Avoid and Neutral directions are equal in value, as are all I.D. Results.

Each USE and AVOID direction has a different set of needs and stressors, and natural talents and vulnerabilities. Take a look at these short videos to get a quick overview of each of the 4 drives/8 directions and find out more about the characteristics of a ‘5’ in an I.D. Result.

WORKING WITH TEAMS AND I.D. ON CLOVERLEAF

The I.D. Content on the Cloverleaf Team Dashboard will show you a team’s I.D. Culture. If 66% or more of a team has a particular drive/direction this is considered to have an impact on its I.D. Culture and show up as shaded on the team’s I.D. chart. A team may have:

- One to four drives/directions that make up its overall I.D. Culture

- Drives that are either USE or AVOID or both, as part of its I.D. Culture

- A DIVERSE culture where no USE or AVOID drives are dominant.

In this example, the team has a Use Authenticate and Avoid Complete I.D. Culture

Just as with individual I.D.s., there is no right or wrong result when it comes to the I.D. Culture of the team. Whatever the outcome, the data on the Cloverleaf Platform will give you rich insight into the operation, talents, and the potential challenges of the team.

You can draw upon the I.D. Culture content when coaching a leader or work-shopping with a team around any aspect of team performance, morale, and seeking progress towards strategic and operational goals.

The impact of dominant drives/directions will impact everyone on the team, whether they are driven similarly or otherwise. While you will want to ensure that all team members are supported to be at their best and make the most of their natural talents, when you explore the I.D. Culture content, focusing on the drives that ARE dominant (rather than the diverse drives) diversity) will add most value for the team.

FOR EACH OF THE DOMINANT DRIVES/DIRECTIONS YOU CAN FIND:

WHEN REVIEWING THE I.D. CULTURE CONTENT WITH LEADERS AND TEAMS YOU CAN EXPLORE:

- Which talents can you better leverage as a team?

- How can you support and make the most of the talents of those wired differently to this culture?

At times you will work with teams that have a Diverse I.D. Culture. This comes with both its benefits and challenges. In this case, you will see an overview explanation:
