A week in a room. A thick manual. And then nothing.

Hundreds of managers had just sat through a week of DISC training. Big manuals. Paper forms. A week away from their teams. The content was good, the science was solid. But when it ended, the question was: now what? When Mark Flanigan, Analyst Manager, asked whether employees would get the same training, the answer was direct: no budget for that.

The training had asked people to do something unrealistic. Remember it. Apply it. Keep it alive. Without tools, without reinforcement, even managers who found it valuable watched the insight fade within weeks.

From theory to daily practice

The Cloverleaf introduction happened through a director who'd attended the same training. His reaction was immediate: "This operationalizes it. It puts it into your day-to-day." That was several years ago. The team has been using Cloverleaf ever since.

It was 10 times, 100 times better than old-school assessment training because it was real, real-time."

- Mark Flanigan,

Analyst Manager, Hewlett Packard Enterprise

What daily insights revealed about long-tenured contributors

For a fully remote team, people who may never have met face to face, Cloverleaf became the bridge to understanding. The daily insights surfaced things that years of working together had not. Two of the team's strongest contributors turned out to have a higher leadership desire than their manager had ever recognized. Once visible, that desire could be leaned into rather than left untapped.

Cloverleaf is also proving valuable for mentorship and talent retention. For mid- and early-career employees joining a remote, demographically diverse team, getting them engaged quickly is a critical success factor. Cloverleaf helps employees get to know each other, build trust, and count on one another, even across screens.

Team members who had worked side by side for years were still discovering things about each other they couldn't quite put their finger on. Comparing profiles. Finding language for dynamics they'd felt but never named.

Unless you open the dynamic, the communication, you just won't even know."

Analyst Manager, Hewlett Packard Enterprise
